Pablo Lemus Navarro, Mayor of Guadalajara, Mexico, made an official visit to Downey on Thursday with city officials and community partners rolling out the red carpet. The City of Guadalajara, Mexico, is Downey’s oldest sister city with a partnership dating back to 1960.
After breakfast catered by Porto’s, Navarro was given a tour of the Downey Civic Center including the Downey Theater, city library, and police station. He was later presented with a certificate of recognition as well as a Downey city flag by the city council.
Other organizations that took part in the festivities include: Downey Sister Cities, Ajua Jalisco, and the Guadalajara Chamber of Commerce.
