Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives are continuing to assist the Bell Gardens Police Department with the investigation of an Officer-Involved shooting that occurred on Saturday, February 6, at approximately 9:08PM.
Detectives have learned that Bell Gardens Police Department officers were responding to a “vandalism now” call, when an officer saw the suspect vehicle driving near the intersection of Clara Street and Garfield Avenue in the city of Bell Gardens.
The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle, at which time two suspects exited the vehicle, and one of the suspects was holding a semi-automatic handgun.
Upon seeing the suspect holding the handgun, an officer-involved shooting occurred.
Both suspects were struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital where they are listed in stable condition.
No Bell Gardens Police Department officers were injured during the incident.
A semi-automatic handgun belonging to the suspect was recovered at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
