One suspect was killed, a second was wounded and a female getaway driver is in custody after a homeowner opened fire during a home invasion in Pico Rivera early Friday morning

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide investigators are continuing to investigate the shooting death of a man and the wounding of a second male.
The incident was reported on Friday, September 18, 2020, at approximately 1:15 a.m., on the 8400 block of Serapis Avenue, Pico Rivera.
At 01:30 hours Pico Rivera Station Deputies responded to the 8400 block of Serapis Avenue in the City of Pico Rivera, regarding a gunshot victim call.
Upon their arrival they determined that two male Hispanics adults attempted to burglarize a residence. The suspects were confronted by the resident of the location who was armed with a handgun.
The resident fired at one of the suspects after he broke a window and began to make entry, that suspect fled the location on foot. The victim walked outside onto his patio, where he confronted the second suspect.
The suspect made furtive movements towards his waistband when he was shot by the resident. Paramedics pronounced suspect dead at the scene.
The first suspect was driven to a hospital by a female Hispanic getaway driver, she was arrested at the hospital. The first suspect remains hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the torso.
“There were other people in a different part of the home when the shooting occurred, but they were not hurt“, sheriff’s Lt. Brad Hall told reporters
“The two suspects may be linked to a gang“, Hall said. There was no word on whether the home was specifically targeted, or if the break-in was random in nature.
The homeowner has been interviewed by investigators. It’s unclear if he will face any charges.
“The investigation is ongoing, and there is no additional information”, LASD reports.
