Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives continue to assist Bell Gardens Police Department personnel investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a male adult that occurred on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 11:22 p.m.
Detectives have learned that officers from Bell Gardens Police Department responded to the 6500 block of Purdy Avenue in Bell Gardens regarding a possible gunshot victim.
Upon their arrival, officers found a male suffering from several gunshot wounds to the upper torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and the victim were in an altercation in the street when the victim was shot.
The suspect then fled the scene northbound on Purdy Avenue to westbound Loveland Street in an older model grey or white sedan.
It is unknown if the incident is gang related.
The weapon has not been recovered.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
